The Chick Who Published
It was the first Chick Tract I had ever read. “THIS WAS YOUR LIFE” in big red letters on what looked like a movie screen floating in space. I don’t remember how many times I thumbed through this tract. I really like the drawings — I liked to think of myself as a cartoonist, of sorts — so I was drawn (sorry) to studying this little booklet from front paper cover to back paper cover.
It’s one of, if not the most, popular Jack Chick tract out there. The subject matter is: What happens after death? What would it look like? Where does your soul go? These and many other questions are answered and illustrated from a very Christian fundamentalist point of view within the pages of this tract. We die. We meet God. Our life is reviewed. Judgement is final.
It’s been over a decade now, but I was wondering what happens to those who use the Bible, the Church, and other things of God to enrich themselves. Serve God, yes, but only because He promises you wealth and prosperity. A book had been published a few years earlier, Your Best Life Now written by Joel Osteen, pastor of a huge mega-church in Texas. I’m not a fan of Osteen or using the Bible for material gain — but the title of his book reminded me of that Chick tract that I had read over and over …
